Somewhere in Oklahoma (NBp) - A group of major card and gift companies
have announced that today, February 15th should officially be called "Make-Up
Valentine's Day".
"Just because a guy forgets Valentine's Day or gets a crummy gift
doesn't mean he should have to wait until Sweetest Day to make up for
it," explains Lame Greetings president David Mentor. "We believe the
the guy should be able to buy something really nice on the 15th to
make up for it right then and there. If he's feeling particularly
remorseful, he could even buy more on the 16th."
The companies report that gift prices on the 15th will only be
about double of the prices on the 14th. Mentor says, "We think that this pricing
plan will teach the guy a bit more responsibility. Maybe next year, he'll
remember how much he had to shell out on the 15th, so he'll buy in time
for the 14th. Besides, for the amount of pain we'll save him, I think the
products are worth more on the 15th."
Lame Greetings has announced a line of cards specifically for Make-Up
Valentine's Day, including:
The card and gift companies are reportedly close to proposing the
"Alternate Anniversary". This new "floating" holiday is designed to allow men to
give gifts to their wives on any day that they think might be their anniversary.
When the real anniversary comes and they forget it, they can mention the
gifts given on the Alternate Anniversary.
