Hollywood (NBp) - Critics universally panned the new sci-fi action
flick Silent Razor, but for some reason moviegoers still
flocked to the film. It grossed $47.2 million over the holiday
weekend, the highest tally of any Memorial Day film released in 1999.
"I can't understand it," said noted film critic Howard Jaywell. "I
gave the movie a 'D' and I don't know of anyone that thought it
had any merit at all. Who are all these people that went to see it?"
"Razor rocked!" exclaimed Jason Hewson, 17, an LA resident. "Those
Razor ships could blow anything out of the sky!"
Critics praised Like Quiz, For Donkey, the story of a man
who asks rhetorical questions of his pet donkey and ultimately learns
about life and himself.
"I was truly touched by Quiz," stated critic Ann Marshall.
"It was a quirky, beautiful story."
Like Quiz, For Donkey grossed nearly $300,000 and will end up
making less than 10% of what Silent Razor made in its first weekend. It is estimated that 95% of Like Quiz, For Donkey's gross
came from friends of movie critics.
In a related story, more evidence of water has been found on Mars, where
it is now believed that critics originated.
