Kirby, AZ (NBp) - Three years after the historic and controversial cloning of Dolly the sheep, scientists have successfully cloned grass, which the cloned sheep can eat.
Dolly, the world's first cloned sheep (shown with her natural offspring), may soon be able to eat cloned grass.

"This is really very remarkable," said Dr. T.J. Crookfalloosi of the University of Kirby in Arizona. "You see, we removed a seed from a blade of grass and implanted it in the soil near that first blade of grass. With some water and time, we had a new blade of grass that looked astoundingly similar to the first."

"It is truly amazing. The very cloning technology that created Dolly in the first place will actually help ensure that these sheep have adequate supplies of grass on which to graze."

Dr. Crookfalloosi believes that, with more research, similar feats of science can be performed with vegetables. "Obviously, vegetables are considerably more complex than grass, but we are greatly encouraged by this latest development."
