Newspaper Fails to Mention Star WarsBy Kev Word of the lapse spread quickly through this small town of 5,000. Within hours, dozens of websites sprang up condemning the South Beach Gazette and South Beach's residents for their lack of enthusiasm. By 10PM, thousands of Star Wars fans dressed as Storm Troopers, Darth Vader, Darth Maul and even a couple of Emperors had streamed into South Beach wielding their lightsabers and laser guns. By 1AM this morning, the Mayor of South Beach conceded defeat as one particular Emperor Palpatine claimed control of the city. This is the first known case of elected officials losing control of a city to a group of movie fans. |
