Town Gets New Area Code

Farnham residents held a parade in honor of the new 957 area code.

"Friends, we are entering a new age," said Mayor Tom Heely in a speech in front of Farham Town Hall. "Since the era of the telephone began, we have been in area code 701. But now, Farnham no longer lives under the shadow of the rest of North Dakota. Now, we are 957!"

NBp asked area residents what they thought of the new area code.

• "This new area code will bring great prosperity to the city" - Agnes Smith, businesswoman and Chamber of Commerce member
• "This is the happiest day of my life" - Timmy Smith, age 10
• "It's obvious that this is a good thing for us. 957 is 256 more than 701! More is better, right?" - Sam Peabody, architect.

A solid day of revelry was capped off by the Mayor's announcement that May 18th is now Farnham Area Code Day, an official city holiday.
