Seattle (NBp) - Delegates from around the globe got down to business
at the World Trade Organization (WTO) summit, despite widespread protests.
The first item on the agenda was the increase in the number of Pokemon
trading cards illegally crossing country borders.
"There are so many smugglers of Pokemon cards today, that it really
doesn't make sense to even restrict it any more," declared Easter Island
ambassador Luke Skywalker (no relation). "If someone can find a rare Pigeot
card in Togo then, by golly, I think they should be able to freely
get it without having to resort to using black market smugglers."
Skywalker's rousing speech helped bring the motion to a 205-7 victory.
The opponents said that parents would simply feel compelled to pony up
more money and that Pokemon should actually be called Wallemon
(Wallet Monsters).
With the jubilation and momentum gained from the swift progress in hand, the
WTO quickly adjourned the formal meetings for the day to trade Pokemon
cards in hopes of bringing an excellent find home for the kids.
