Los Angeles (NBp) - A fifteen minute recess called by Judge Jane
Finkle, 290th District Circuit Court of Los Angeles County, was cut short
after a fight broke out between two witnesses and a juror was caught writing
graffiti on the wall.
"I can't believe this behavior from people your age," admonished Finkle.
"I know that you didn't all misbehave, but sometimes a couple of people
can spoil things for everyone."
Everything had seemed fine when Finkle called the recess. Everyone in the
courtroom quietly filed out into the playground. But, it was only five minutes
into the recess when two witnesses in the case were fighting over who
was the rightful owner of a Pokemon trading card. The fight was quickly
brought under control. Just a minute later, juror number seven was caught
writing "Fry the guilty ..." and was stopped before he could finish. Judge
Finkle decided to end the recess there.
"Now why don't we all just put our heads down for a minute and think
about what has happened", ordered Finkle. "I should hold some of you in
contempt of court, but instead I'll just let you off with a warning.
And, there will be no juice and cookies for anyone."
The parents of the two witnesses and juror number seven were not
immediately available for comment.
